Puerto Viejo
Puerto Viejo is an active little beach town, just south of Cahuita and Home Creek. It is widely known for its laidback vibe and world class surfing, Puerto Viejo is an expression of Costa Rica’s more eclectic and eccentric sides. During peak weekends, there isn’t a room in town and even the hammocks are all taken.
There are plenty of hotels and cafes that dot the quirky Caribbean village. Even with all the action in this party town, it is still somehow low-key at the same time.
A little further south is the Playa Cocles area with more hotels, resorts, cafes and more peaceful experience. There is a more family oriented atmosphere in this neighborhood, but with equal if not more
beauty. Less action, but more peace… ahhh, so relaxing.
